[All things considered moving wasn't going to be exactly hard for Tomoe. Everything she owned thus far fit in the basket she used for groceries, it would be an incredibly simple thing. The thing that had her paused was the girl she technically barely knew who had arrived at the same time she had... She had no real reason to have connected to strongly to her aside from just having someone to take care of... It was familiar and it gave her a sense of importance, at least to someone.]
[And there was the fact that the girl seemed to really need it... Or at least it seemed that way, the way she brightened up so much with the smallest acts of kindness...]
[So that was probably why she found herself heading to the girl's door and knocking twice to see if she was there. She most certainly had to tell her where she was going at the very least...]
[Likewise, Satou wasn't sure why she was so drawn to Tomoe. Was it because she was pretty? Satou had been known to be attracted to pretty ladies. Or maybe she was just lonely, and longed for a family? Probably a mix of the two, really.
Whatever the reason, it was apparent that Satou adored Tomoe. When she opened the door and saw the other girl, her eyes lit up-- and around her, sparkling pink stars began to close in an obvious display of adoration.]
[The emotional effects in this place never cease to catch her off guard and the show of pink stars nearly draws a laugh from her--the smallest huff of air through barely parted lips. She doesn't smile--she still wonders if she even can smile anymore--but first her eyes warm followed by the air around her.]
[Satou has enough of those pink stars and sparkles for a whole team of people: She briefly cups one of her flushed cheeks, her smile still borderline giddy.]
I met someone in the market who told me about it. The owner will trade work for room and board. It isn't so different from how I lived in Kyoto... I think I will be more at home there that this building... it is... familiar.
[She feels nervous all of a sudden, watching the other girl's reaction. No, she's been nervous, her nerves just spiked actually mentioning the housing--and to mirror that feeling there is a quiet fizzing noise somewhere, tiny bubbles rising around her to pop quickly, like carbonated water.]
[Elphelt day dreams all the time, imagining any number of interactions with others. None of these are meant to be shared with anyone, the object of her fantasies or otherwise. Unfortunately, her amulet has other plans. It may be worse if it were sent to the person she is thinking of, but being sent to someone totally random is not too much better.]
If we married, well...you would second guess yourself, no matter how hard you worked. You'd be exhausted, but--TADA!--your beautiful wife and her delicious sweets would energize you to push on no matter how heavy things get. "Ah, dear," you would say, "I don't deserve a wife as supportive as you!" Which is just nonsense, because that's a wife's duty! Don't be so hard on yourself.
[Boy, what ever random person she is fantasizing about must be neat. Or at least the fantastical version she created in her head is, anyway. Good thing no one will overhear this.]
[The response that Elphelt gets may initially sound like radio static, as Satou is so confused and flustered that her mental voice falls apart. Gradually, mental stutters and squeaks begin melding into words:]
[Well, her daydream is ruined. The guy she was people-watching has rounded the corner, never to be seen again. She processes the voice and places it to one she has heard recently. She isn't one to forget anything about a person.]
M-Miss Kuroneko!? That wasn't...It isn't...! Not that I wouldn't, but...I can't go to jail for a forbidden romance!
[Pause.]
You're most likely older than me, so it's probably fine, actually...
[Double pause.]
--I mean, I didn't mean for you to hear that! Or any of this, now that I think about it. Hi, how are you?
I mean. Yes, I am okay. I'm out getting some fresh air and...well, you know! It's that time of year. The time where love and romance is in the air. It may have gotten the better of me.
Oh... Oh no, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that, I mean, uh--- Umm! You don't have to be single in spring! I just don't know your husband, uh-- I'm sure... you have...
[Satou can feel herself getting flustered again. She just wants to pretend this conversation never happened! Somehow, she needs to help Elphelt forget it too... Like a truce, or something, but a friend truce on feeling awkward!]
Maybe... Since we're both uh. You know. We should hang out. I mean, uh. If you're lonely, or you know, uh. If that's not weird...
[In more way than one. She would like to find her true love, but she is also the regular kind of lonely, too. Satou's women's intuition must be stronger than Elphelt expected to have sensed her loneliness.]
Would you really be okay with spending time with me, Miss Kuroneko?

[The job was a very good thing--especially when it was something she was so familiar with, but the move, that was what made her pause.]
I was able to find employment at an onsen called the Jade Dragon, have you seen it here?

[The familiar term from home is briefly an extra source of comfort.
Satou shakes her head.]
N-No, not yet. Congratulations, I mean! On the job. That's more important.

[Satou's ears are burning hot from embarrassment, because yes. She did hear.]
I-I'm doing wonderfully! Yourself? Are you, um, okay?

[Take a few breaths, Elphelt. Settle down.]

[Oh wait. She'd said she hadn't heard anything---]
I mean, if you had one! I don't know, nope, n-no idea! N-nice weather!

[Why...did she say that...? What did Elphelt do to deserve such cruelty?]
--YOU'RE RIGHT I DON'T HAVE ONE. WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH SPRING AGAIN BEING SINGLE?!

[This conversation is going poorly, isn't it?]
Um! Are you busy?

[Asking if she's busy right after Satou turned her down...? Elphelt isn't sure how to take these mixed signals.]
Why do you ask...?
